Why we named the company Mango Core

The naming logic, in case anyone ever wonders. Spoiler — it isn't deep.

Naming a company is the same trap as naming a band. Pick something too specific and you regret it the first time you pivot. Pick something too abstract and nobody can spell it back to you on the phone.

We picked Mango because:

  1. It's a fruit, and fruits age out gracefully. Apple did fine. So did Blackberry, even after it stopped being a phone.
  2. It says nothing about what we do, which leaves room.
  3. It's warm, slightly tropical, and easier to pronounce than the alternatives we tried.

The LLC part is just the legal wrapper. Mango Core LLC is a US-registered limited liability company that holds and operates the products on this site. That's the entire complication.

A name is a coat hanger. Hang the work on it. The work matters; the hanger should hold.

If we ever launch a second product and it has nothing to do with the first, the name still works. That was the whole point.
